Béchamel, also known as “white sauce” is one of the most staple sauces used in cooking and often serves as the base for many other sauces.

4 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
salt & pepper to taste
