This onion sambal recipe is simply, onion sliced thinly and allowed to sit in kosher salt and lemon juice, plus a few spices.
- 1 medium red onion, halved and thinly sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh cilantro, finely chopped
- 1/2 lemon, juice of
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and chill in a refrigerator for (at least) half an hour.
